Obvious statement: The music video is a lost art in 2016.

Bring back the glory days of music-on-tv with Out Of Focus Video Festival. Now in its second year, the festival plays back music videos and other creative visual projects from local artists for one night only, in a real, actual theater, not just your food-stained Macbook screen.

As far as the organizers know, the only music video festival in the Bay Area, and considering last year’s success, they hope to keep this going well beyond 2016. Alumni include Shannon and the Clams, Luke Sweeney, Sonny and the Sunsets, and lots of other Bay Area favorites. If you’re a band looking to submit — and that can be anything from music videos to short films to brief animations — submissions are open until April 15 and cost you nothing.

The whole thing is going down April 27 at the New Parkway in Oakland. No word yet on what bands will be showing their work, but we’ve already had some great videos go up on the blog this year (and it’s only March!), so we have some contenders in mind.

Check out Out of Focus’ promo below. Now get busy making some videos!
